When Life Feels Heavy
Ever feel like life is just crashing down? Everything’s going wrong, and then—bam—God steps in and changes it all?
That’s a “But God” moment. It’s when you’re overwhelmed, and out of nowhere, God does something amazing. Let’s talk about these moments and why they matter so much.
What’s a “But God” Moment?
A “But God” moment is when God flips the script. You’re stuck, scared, or hopeless, and He says, “I’ve got this.”
The Bible is packed with these stories. Think of Noah—floods everywhere, no hope in sight. But “God remembered Noah” (Genesis 8:1). He didn’t forget Noah, and He won’t forget you either.
When Do They Happen?
These moments usually hit during tough times:
When you’re scared or worried
When things look impossible
When you’ve got no answers
When you need God big time
Take Joseph—sold as a slave, betrayed by his brothers. But “God was with him” and turned it all around (Acts 7:9-10). Even at his lowest, God had a plan.
Why They Matter
In our crazy world, we need hope. “But God” moments remind us He’s in control.
Like David, running from King Saul—“Saul searched for him, but God did not give David into his hands” (1 Samuel 23:14).
God protected David, and He protects us too. These moments grow our trust in Him.
Your “But God” Stories
We’ve all had them. Maybe you were sick, jobless, or alone, and God stepped in. Christians aren’t spared from storms, but we’re carried through them.
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).
Next time you’re in a mess, look for your “But God” moment.
The Biggest “But God” of All
Here’s the best one: “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
Jesus is our ultimate “But God” moment—saving us when we couldn’t save ourselves. No matter what you’re facing, God’s got a moment waiting for you.
Think on This
When has God stepped into your life?
Where do you need Him now?
Are you focused on your problems or His power?
A Prayer
Heavenly Father, You’re the God of impossible things. Thank You for being with us, even when we can’t see a way out. Open our eyes to Your “But God” moments. Help us trust You in every storm. We give You our worries and fears. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Blessings,
Cindy
